The Pyramid Center Wins First Place in Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) San Francisco Earth Awards

Owned by AEGON and managed and leased by Cushman & Wakefield, The Pyramid Center today announced 505 Sansome has received First Place for Small Commercial Buildings in the 2010 Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) EARTH Awards.
The BOMA San Francisco EARTH Award recognizes member buildings that utilize the most comprehensive resource management programs, including commercial recycling programs, energy and water conservation efforts, air quality and toxics reduction programs, support for public transportation, and effective use of tenant education programs geared to promoting sustainability practices in commercial office buildings.
The EARTH Award program is an opportunity to consider the entire spectrum of programs and practices that constitute an effective "sustainability program" for office buildings, including what policies and procedures should be adopted that can help move a property toward becoming "green."
The First Place in the BOMA EARTH Awards comes on the heels of The Pyramid being named Best Green Building Retrofit in the Bay Area Award by the San Francisco Business Times and The Transamerica Pyramid and 505 Sansome receiving prestigious Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) Gold Certifications by the U.S. Green Building Council for their energy and environmental upgrades.
All of The Pyramid’s awards and LEED Gold certification are the culmination of a long-standing commitment to energy efficiency. The green retrofit includes an 85% use of alternative transportation by tenants, a water use reduction program resulting in a 50% reduction over the past year, a 20% reduction of carbon footprint, purchasing of off-site renewable energy credits equivalent to 50% of purchased power, a high-efficiency co-generation plant, and the use of green cleaning products.
